The Highlight of the Night

Check out this sick hit by Dion Phaneuf on Kyle Oposko…

Talk about a yard sale…his gloves and helmet came off instantly.  I wonder if his skates got knocked off too.  Anyway, welcome back NHL–God bless you.

Caps Open Pre-Season with Victory

Brian Pothier scored the game-winning goal :49 into OT against the Sabres to give the Caps an edge in a 4-3 win.  The Caps’ special teams turned it up to start the season by stopping all four Buffalo powerplays.

After not seeing a powerplay opportunity all game, the Caps finally got a chance on the man-up after Sabres goaltender, Jhonas Enroth, played the puck in the trapezoid for a delay of game with :36 remaining.  Mike Weber received another penalty to put the Sabres down two men going into the overtime session.

So Long Stanley Cup

The Caps fell in game 7 last night to the Pittsburgh Penguins and boy did they fall hard.  After the first two goals, there was a churning feeling in your stomach that this game wasn’t going to be good for the Caps.  They ended their post season last night with a 6-2 loss, their star goalie getting pulled, Ovechkin missing a key breakaway and scoring a meaningless goal, and Sid the Kid shining bright with two goals.

Caps on the Brink of Elimination

The Washington Capitals are once again one loss away from ending their season.  The question is who do the Caps turn to.

Do they turn to their rookie goalie, Simeon Varlamov, to make save after save?–Hes’ already seen 184 shots in the first five games of the series.

Do they turn to Sergei Fedorov to make another spectacular snipe and clinch the series once again?

Do they turn to Alex Ovechkin to take-over the series and put the Pens away?

Yes of course they should turn to Ovie, the number one player in the league, to step-up and be a leader.
