So Long Stanley Cup

The Caps fell in game 7 last night to the Pittsburgh Penguins and boy did they fall hard.  After the first two goals, there was a churning feeling in your stomach that this game wasn’t going to be good for the Caps.  They ended their post season last night with a 6-2 loss, their star goalie getting pulled, Ovechkin missing a key breakaway and scoring a meaningless goal, and Sid the Kid shining bright with two goals.

Do they turn to their rookie goalie, Simeon Varlamov, to make save after save?–Hes’ already seen 184 shots in the first five games of the series.

Do they turn to Sergei Fedorov to make another spectacular snipe and clinch the series once again?

Do they turn to Alex Ovechkin to take-over the series and put the Pens away?

Yes of course they should turn to Ovie, the number one player in the league, to step-up and be a leader.

Series Tied 2-2 Heading Back to DC

After gaining a 2-0 lead in the series, the Caps dropped two straight at Mellon Arena to even the series at two.  They were outplayed and outshot.  It didn’t help that rookie goaltender Simeon Varlamov had his first bad game of the playoffs.

Out of 10 games so far in this year’s playoffs, I will gladly have a goaltender that has one bad game out of 10.  That was the case last night as the Pens were shooting from every angle and every opportunity they had.  Here’s some quotes from after the game…
