OMG – Ovechkin is Out!
Even without star player, Alexander Ovechkin, the Caps found a way to pull out back-to-back victories against the Florida Panthers last weekend. Washington has gone 2-1-1 during Ovie’s absence and have had some players step up.
Are the Caps Back On Track? Yes, No, Maybe So
With star Alexander Semin out of the lineup the past two games, Washington’s powerplay has looked less than exceptional. Jose Theodore has been playing his heart out in the Caps Crease in front of a lack-luster defense. Ovechkin has tallied only one assist in the past two games–a little less than what we expect out of the NHL’s premiere player. However, the team is on a 4-game win-streak. Soooo are the Caps back on track?
Penalties Prove Costly in Caps Loss
The Caps lost a close game last night 3-2 to the defending Western Conference champion Detroit Red Wings. The go-ahead goal came under seven minutes in the 3rd period on a powerplay goal by Tomas Holmstrom. Mike Green was in the box during the goal after getting his 6th minor penalty in five games, and his second of the evening, leaving Caps Coach Bruce Boudreau singing the woos about his team’s penalty problems.

Dear Tom Poti: YOU BLEW IT!
I hate to point the blame at an individual for a team’s loss, but in this case I feel I must vent. Although the Caps gave up two different leads by allowing back-to-back goals twice, I must say that Tom Poti blew it for the Caps tonight.
The Caps lost a tough one tonight 4-3, giving up a 1-0 lead and a 3-2 lead to fall to the New York Rangers. Marion Gaborik was able to get two open shots at Caps’ goalie Jose Theodore to score the final goals of the game. Find out how…

Good Hockey Calls For Media Frenzy?
What a game last night between the Caps and Flyers. A combined seven goals in the 2nd period, two from Alex Ovechkin and three from Brad Richards, also including a NHL-record four assists in that same period by a defenseman, Matt Carle. This isn’t what was exciting me during last night’s broadcast, however. It was the ridiculous amount of predictions in-between periods and in the news this morning. This person will score this many goals, this team is in the top four in their conference, these guys are going to be in contention for the Cup. Here’s a newsflash for you…IT’S THREE GAMES INTO THE SEASON!!
There’s been some great games so far this season, but I think the guys from “Strange Brew” could do a better job predicting the future of the 2009-10 NHL Season.
